1-minute check

How is your jaw doing?

Jaw pain, catching or teeth clenching might be affecting you too. Answer a few short questions and we'll suggest a next step that suits you.

Question 1 of 9

In the last 30 days, on average, how long did any pain in your jaw or temple area last?

This check is for information only and does not give a diagnosis. Please see a healthcare professional for a proper assessment.

How was this check made?

The first six questions about jaw pain are adapted from the TMD Pain Screener, part of the international Diagnostic Criteria for Temporomandibular Disorders (DC/TMD); the catching and locking question is adapted from the 3Q/TMD screening questions. The teeth clenching questions and the result levels were added by fizyosanat, so the result does not replace a validated test.

Take a minute to breathe

Tension that builds up during the day often makes breathing shallow. Choose a rhythm and follow the circle; a longer out-breath helps the nervous system calm down.

If you feel dizzy or uncomfortable, stop and return to your normal breathing.

Frequently Asked Questions

The most common questions about treatment and our services

Does physiotherapy help with jaw joint problems?

Research shows that combining manual therapy with therapeutic exercise is the most widely used and most effective conservative approach for reducing pain and improving mouth opening in jaw joint disorders.

How many sessions will I need?

The number of sessions depends on how long you have had the complaint, how severe it is and how consistently you do the exercises. A personal plan is made after the first assessment.

What causes teeth clenching?

There is no single cause. Stress, sleep patterns, posture, breathing habits and everyday parafunctional habits can all play a part, which is why a holistic assessment matters.

Is manual therapy the same as massage?

No. Manual therapy uses specific, assessment-based techniques for joints and tissues and is planned together with an exercise programme.

Who practises osteopathy?

In Türkiye, osteopathy is practised by healthcare professionals trained in osteopathy. Asude Özkaya is a specialist physiotherapist and osteopath.

What is the difference between clinical Pilates and regular Pilates?

Clinical Pilates is planned by a physiotherapist around your health and adapted to pain or injury.

What do I need for online sessions?

An internet connection, a camera and a little space to move are enough. Most of the work can be done seated, even at your desk.
